Voi incepe cu evidentele: hipertensiunea arteriala nu e de joaca! Doar nu vrei vreuna dintre complicatiile pe care le poate aduce, nu? Cine ar putea sa-si doreasca probleme cu rinichii, probleme cu vederea sau atac de cord sau infarct miocardic?

Hipertensiunea este un prieten fals. Multi au tensiunea crescuta si nici nu-si dau seama. Ba chiar s-ar putea sa le placa vaga senzatie ca sunt mai alerti. Tocmai din aceste motive, hipertensiunea arteriala mai este denumita si “ucigasul tacut”, mai ales daca se asociaza cu colesterol crescut, glicemie crescuta sau probleme anterioare cu arterele si cu inima, riscurile cresc exponential.

Vestea buna: hipertensiunea poate fi prevenita! Sunt metode dovedite stiintific prin care se poate evita si va prezentam cateva dintre ele:

1. Exercitiul

Nu exista metoda mai buna sa-ti faci inima sa bata mai puternic si plamanii sa respire mai eficient! Este si una dintre cele mai bune metode prin care sa scazi tensiunea arteriala. Vasele de sange devin mai flexibile si asta imbunatateste circulatia sangelui. Poti sa incepi cu mersul pe jos: tinteste 10 000 de pasi pe zi (sau ~ 7 km). E mult si putin in acelasi timp!

2. Slabeste

Cu cat esti mai mare, cu atat inima ta va avea de muncit mai mult sa pompeze sangele sa ajunga in tot organismul. Slabind, iti ajuti inima sa faca o treaba mai usoara si mai eficienta. In plus, miscarea va deveni mai usoara. Win-win!

3. Mananca sanatos

Fa alegeri alimentare inteligente. Alege fructele si legumele, sursele de fibra, cereale complete, carnurile albe. Cu o dieta sanatoasa, vei controla mai usor greutatea. Vezi unde bat? 😉

4. Mai putina sare

Sarea in bucate… cu moderatie! Consumul excesiv de sare este cauza de tensiune ridicata la 5% din populatie. Daca iei medicamente antihipertensive, sarea in exces le va anula efectul. Incearca sa consumi minimul necesar.

Ca nota suplimentara, pentru prietenii mei francezi care iubesc bomboanele “reglise” (lemn dulce) – poate fi unul dintre motivele pentru care tensiunea creste. Contine substante care mimeaza efectul aldosteronului si va avea un impact direct asupra tensiunii arteriale.

5. Fara fumat!

Fumatul face ravagii vaselor de sange – e ca si cum ai pune sarma ghimpata in vene! Fumatul provoaca cresterea tensiunii arteriale.

6. Fara stres

Cu cat vei fi mai relaxat, cu atat circulatia sanguina va fi mai buna.

I should start by saying: high blood pressure is not a joke! You don’t want any of the complications related to it, do you? How could you wish for kidney damage, vision problems or heart attack or stroke?

Hypertension is a fake-friend. Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it. They might even enjoy it for the slight sensation of allertness it brings. This is why it is also reffered to as “the silent killer”, especially if it associated with high cholesterol, blood sugar levels or damages of the arteries and the heart, the risks increase exponentially.

The good news: high blood pressure can be prevented! There are scientifically proven methods to avoid getting it and we are giving you some of them:

1. Exercise

Nothing better to get your heart pumping and your lungs working hard than exercise! This is also one of the best ways to lower high blood pressure. Your vessels become more flexible and this improves blood flow. You can start by walking: aim for 10 000 steps or around 7 kms/ day.

2. Lose weight

The bigger you are, the more your heart has to work to pump blood in your body. By losing weight, you help your heart do an easier and better job. It will also make exercise easier. Win-win!

3. Healthy diet

Try to make healthy choices. Go for free vegetables and fruits, fiber, whole grains, lean meats. A healthier diet will help you lose weight. See where we’re getting? 😉

4. Lower your salt intake

Too much salt is the cause of high blood pressure in 5% of the population. Plus, if you take blood pressure pills, they will lose effect if you eat too salty. Keep it to a minimum.

As a side note, for my French friends who love “reglise bombons” – it can be one of the reasons why your blood pressure increased. It contains subtances that mimic aldosterone and it will directly have an impact on your blood pressure.

5. No more smoking!

Smoking does ravages to the blood vesels – it is like you put barded wire inside! It is directly correlated with high blood pressure.

6. No stress

The more relaxed, the better your blood flow.
